Sun Bowl Stadium -
The Sun Bowl was first played on January 1, 1935, as a
fund-raising event for a local service club, to benefit
underprivileged children and to finance improvements to the El
Paso High School Stadium. It has grown into El Paso's number
one national attraction and is second only to the Rose Bowl in
longevity. Throughout its 70-year history, the Sun Bowl has
been known for its tremendous hospitality. This reputation
could not be possible without the hard work and dedication of
the bowl's hundreds of volunteers. In fact, the Sun Bowl's
hospitality has been regarded as the best in the business. For
years, the volunteers have done a great job making the
visiting teams, media and other representatives feel right at
home. The volunteers dedicate themselves throughout the year,
especially during bowl week, to ensure that our visitors to El
Paso have the best bowl experience possible.
